Magic Tree Lighting — A Holiday Tradition with Heart

Magic Tree Lighting — A Holiday Tradition with Heart

Dec 2, 2025

This past Wednesday, November 26, dozens of families and friends gathered at Paragon Star in Lee’s Summit for the 2025 edition of the Lee’s Summit Magic Tree Lighting Ceremony. For over a decade, this festive tradition has marked the official start of the holiday season for many across the metro — and this year was no exception.

A New Look, A New Home — Same Spirit

This year, the Magic Tree returned with a fresh new layout and a more visible location within Paragon Star, giving visitors a new way to experience the spectacle of lights — even from afar near I-470. The upgraded setup comes with all the familiar holiday charm: twinkling lights, festive music, and the chance to snap memorable photos under the glow of the tree.

Giving Back: Supporting Military Families Through Operation Toy Soldier

What makes the Magic Tree more than just a seasonal attraction is its heart — the event isn’t just about celebrating the holidays. From the beginning, the Magic Tree has partnered with Operation Toy Soldier, encouraging attendees to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate. Those donations go directly to children of deployed and non-deployed military families in our community, helping ensure they don’t miss out on holiday joy simply because of circumstances beyond their control.

Since its start more than a decade ago, the Magic Tree has helped countless families during the holidays. The tradition stands for more than lights — it’s about community, generosity, and giving hope to those who serve.

Holiday Spirits, Pop-Up Bar and Community Gathering

After the tree lighting, many attendees made their way to the Magic Tree Pop-Up Bar — a part of the celebration that’s quickly becoming its own holiday tradition. Warm lights, seasonal drinks, good company, and the soft glow of the tree — the Pop-Up Bar adds a cozy, festive vibe to the evening and offers yet another way for the community to come together.

Thanks to Stoyko's Tree Service for six years of donated mulch, helping the Magic Tree shine bright for our community each holiday season.
